A Bill of Material (BOM) in Luminous acts as a "recipe" for compiling raw goods or components into a finished product ready for sale. This guide provides step-by-step instructions to create and assign a BOM to a product.

Step 1: Navigate to the Bills of Materials

  1. Access Inventory Admin:
    • From the Luminous dashboard, click Inventory Admin under the Inventory menu.

Step 2: Create a New Bill of Material

  1. Start Creating a BOM:

    • Enter a name for the BOM. It is recommended to use the name or SKU of the finished product (e.g., Chocolate Cookie).
  3. Add Components:
    • Add the raw goods or components required to create the finished product. For example:
      • Cocoa
      • Flour
      • Sugar
      • Butter
  4. Customize Details:
    • Adjust quantities, units of measure (e.g., grams, kilograms), or add decimals as needed.
    • Include specific notes or instructions for each component, if applicable.
  5. Save the BOM:
    • Click Save to finalize the Bill of Material.

Step 3: Assign the BOM to a Product

  1. Navigate to SKUs:
    • Go to the SKUs section in Luminous.
  2. Select the Product:
    • Locate the finished product to which you want to assign the BOM (e.g., Chocolate Chip Protein Bar).
  3. Assign the BOM:
    • In the product details, assign the newly created BOM (e.g., Chocolate Cookie).
    • Click Done to save the changes.

Additional Features

  • Multiple BOMs per Product
    • You can assign multiple BOMs to a single product. This is particularly useful if there are different ways to produce the same finished good, offering greater flexibility in production workflows.

By following these steps, you can efficiently set up and manage Bills of Materials in Luminous, ensuring smooth production processes for your finished goods.
